Escambia County State Public Fishing Lake

Escambia County State Public Fishing Lake (Leon Brooks Hines Lake) is located in the Conecuh National Forest approximately 23 miles east of Brewton, Alabama. This 184-acre lake is stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish, and crappie. Amenities include restrooms, concessions, a boat ramp, and a fishing pier. A fishing license and State Public Fishing Lakes permit is required for ages 16 to 64. Licenses and permits are available from license agents located throughout the state, online, through the Outdoor AL mobile app, at county probate offices, or by calling (888) 848-6887.

Escambia County Lake is located in the Conecuh National Forest near the Florida state line approximately 23 miles east of Brewton, Alabama, off County Road 11 (Beaver Creek Road). From Buddy Mitchell Bridge in Brewton take U.S. Highway 29 north for 9 miles. Take a right on County Road 4 and drive for 10 miles. Take a right on County Road 11 (Beaver Creek Road) for 1.5 miles. Take a right on Parker Springs Road then a left on Barney Road to Escambia County Lake, also known as Leon Brooks Hines Lake.

Licenses and Permits

• Fishing license required for anglers ages 16 to 64
• $5 Fishing Permit required for anglers ages 12 and up (Includes launch of personal boat)
• $10 Boat Rental Permit (daily fishing permit also required)
• Fishing Licenses are available for purchase at the lake
