STATUS:
Uncommon to fairly common in late summer and fall, uncommon to rare in spring, and occasional in winter and early summer in Gulf Coast region. In Tennessee Valley, rare in spring, late summer, and fall. In Mountain and Inland Coastal Plain regions, rare in fall and occasional in spring.
HABITAT:
Found on ponds and mudflats, along lake margins and marsh edges, and in flooded fields and salt marshes.
