STATUS:
Uncommon in all regions above Fall Line Hills except for Interior Plateau where it is apparently absent. Somewhat spotty distribution. Includes G.p. porphyriticus (northern spring salamander) and G.p. dunni (Carolina spring salamander). Low Conservation Concern
Habitat:
Found in, and near, caves, springs, and seeps.
