Public Encouraged to Take Part in Yates Lake BioBlitz on May 19-20

The public is invited to help inventory the Yates Lake West Forever Wild property in Elmore County, Ala., on May 19-20, 2017. Volunteers will work with biologists for two days to collect data on the types of plants, trees, wildflowers and wildlife (birds, reptiles, etc.) that are present at Yates Lake West.

You may come for a couple of hours or stay all day. Wear comfortable clothing and bring insect repellant, water and snacks. You may also want to bring binoculars and a camera.

Participants should email Wayne Barger with the Alabama State Lands Division at Wayne.Barger@dcnr.alabama.gov to register.

9 AM - John Trent Leads a Bird Walk

10 AM - Wayne Barger Leads a Botany/Butterfly Walk

11 AM - Brian Holt and Courtney Guinane Lead a Herp Hunt

1 PM - Wayne Barger Leads a Nature Hike

DIRECTIONS

From I-85 exit 26, head north on AL Hwy 229 for approximately 17 miles. Sign in at the parking area located on the right side of the highway (N32.64534, W85.94996).
