STATUS:
Uncommon. Known from east of the Tombigbee and Black Warrior Rivers in the Coastal Plain, Piedmont, and Ridge and Valley. Alabama's only red-tailed skink, this secretive burrowing lizard is rarely seen above ground. Thought to be declining. MODERATE CONSERVATION CONCERN.
