Lake Temporarily Closes October 31
Bibb County Public Fishing Lake in West Blocton, Alabama, will temporarily close on October 31, 2024, due to a change in lake management. The Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF) Division of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) will begin accepting applications for a new lake manager immediately.
The lake manager position is contracted with the State of Alabama for a three-year term, which is renewable at the discretion of the state. Duties include the sale of fishing licenses and permits, grounds maintenance, store management and other related responsibilities. An investment is required to meet the initial needs of daily operations. There is no salary or state benefits associated with this position. Income is derived from fishing permits and concession sales.

During the closure, anglers who typically visit the lake are encouraged to visit the state-owned public fishing lakes in Dallas and Fayette counties.
