Meaher State Park Reopens on Saturday, Oct. 14

Fishing pier remains closed

Meaher State Park in Spanish Fort, Ala., is scheduled to reopen Saturday, October 14, 2017. The park had been closed due to damage received during Hurricane Nate, which made landfall in southeast Louisiana and again near Biloxi, Miss., on Saturday, October 7, 2017.

The park’s fishing pier was damaged during the hurricane and remains closed until crews can complete repairs and ensure it is safe for public use. The concrete walkway near the west bathhouse was also damaged. Visitors should avoid the damaged section of the walkway and bathhouse until repairs can be made. Additionally, some tent and RV sites are also closed pending repairs.

All other park facilities are open and reservations are being accepted. Visitors should contact the park at 251-626-5529 for information about availability.
