Scientific Name: Rynchospora inundata
Distinguishing Characteristics:
- Actually a sedge having solid stems that are triangular in cross-section
- Narrow leaf blades originating in cluster at base of plants
- Seedheads are branched with loose clusters of spikelets at end of each branch; spikelets brown and 1/2 to 1-inch long
- Can form dense, grassy thickets along shoreline and in shallow water
