Beyond Band-Aids—Learn what to do if a mishap occurs while you are miles from medical help. What you know may mean the difference between life and death. Learn basic first aid for minor injuries as well as lifesaving tips and techniques for serious injuries. Note: only offered in October session.
Self-Defense and Awareness—This class will offer a set of awareness, assertiveness, and verbal confrontation skills with safety strategies and techniques that will help to enable you to successfully escape, resist, survive, and most importantly AVOID violent attacks. This class is statistically based and is mostly a lecture format.
Backcountry First Aid—Learn how to respond in an emergency in remote areas, structured patient assessment, treatment and protection from further harm, proper decision-making on evacuation of a patient to a physician"s care. Note: Only offered in March session.
Wilderness Survival Firecraft - This class will focus on the principles of fire, constructing and maintaining a fire, and the aspects of safety. Students will learn what it takes to make a fire (oxygen, heat, fuel), the preparation and stages of a fire (tinder, kindling, and fuel) and after an instructor demonstration will be given the opportunity to practice on making their own fire with assistance as needed.
