12 Youth Receive Lifetime Fishing Licenses

Twelve youngsters are recipients of lifetime fishing licenses courtesy of the Alabama Department of Conservation, Alabama Power and the Alabama B.A.S.S. Federation. The children, who range in age from three to 11, were entered into a drawing for the licenses after participating in a fishing event at Oak Mountain State Park. Each license is worth $150 and is valid for a lifetime of fishing in Alabama.

The money for the purchase of the licenses was provided by Alabama Power and the Alabama B.A.S.S. Federation. Each organization actively promotes fishing events to expose children to new skills and encourage participation in the activity.

The children were honored recently at a reception at Oak Mountain State Park. Each child was congratulated by Barnett Lawley, commissioner of the Department of Conservation, Willard Bowers, Alabama Power’s vice president for environmental affairs, and Al Redding, president of the Alabama B.A.S.S. Federation. In addition to their lifetime fishing license, each child was presented with a one-year subscription to Outdoor Alabama magazine, published by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
