The Conservation Advisory Board assists and advises on matters relating to the Department. The Board is composed of 10 members appointed by the governor for alternating terms of six years, and three ex-officio members in the persons of the Governor, the Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries, and the Director of the Cooperative Extension System. The Commissioner of Conservation and Natural Resources serves as the ex-officio secretary of the Board.
Conservation Commissioner M. Barnett Lawley urges concerned citizens to attend the March 6 meeting when the board will discuss items pertaining to Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries,
Advisory Board Chairman Dan Moultrie stressed that the Board is fully accessible to the public. “The Board has moved in the direction of being more accessible to its constituents over the past year and I am committed to seeing that we continue in that direction,” he said.
Lawley praised Board members for their commitment to the public. “I commend the Conservation Advisory Board for opening the lines of communication with hunters, anglers and wildlife watchers,” he said. “They are our customers and our future. A priority of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is to remove barriers and make the outdoors more accessible. We want more families sharing outdoors experiences and creating memories.”
