Great Horned Owl Bubo virginianus. Breeder. Fairly common in all seasons and regions. Found in woodlands and parklands. MODERATE CONSERVATION CONCERN.

Snowy Owl Nyctea scandiaca. Accidental.

Burrowing Owl Athene cunicularia. Rare in winter, spring, and fall in Gulf Coast region. Found in open country and on beaches.

Barred Owl Strix varia. Breeder. Common in all seasons and in all regions. Found in moist woodlands and wooded swamps. Low Conservation Concern. 

Long-eared Owl Asio otus. Occasional in fall and winter in all regions. Found in woodlands, especially conifer groves.

Short-eared Owl Asio flammeus. Rare in winter, spring, and fall in Tennessee Valley and Inland Coastal Plain regions. Occasional in Gulf Coast region. Found in marshes, on dunes, and in grassy fields. HIGH CONSERVATION CONCERN.

Northern Saw-whet Owl Aegolius acadicus. Occasional in winter and fall in Inland Coastal Plain, Mountain, and Tennessee Valley regions. Found in dense evergreen thickets.
