Splinter Hill Bog Complex
Location: Baldwin County
Splinter Hill Bog Complex is made up of 2 tracts of longleaf pine and bog habitat at the headwaters of the Perdido River. The remainder of the tract was acquired by the State Lands Division through Coastal Impact Assistance Program funds, provided through the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA).
The complex will be managed as a nature preserve for habitat conservation, outdoor recreation, scientific research and education to forward the conservation of these rare natural communities.
A mult-use trail was opened to the public in January 2013. This 4 mile multi-use system is open to hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. The trail is open year round and is free of charge.
