The tract is composed of a mosaic of habitats including South-Central Interior Mesophytic Forest, Allegheny-Cumberland Dry Oak Forest and Woodland – Hardwood, and Southern Appalachian Low Mountain Pine Forest. The geology of this property is capped by sandstone and underlain by limestone.The tract secures additional protection of the local watershed for Coldwater Spring, a unique ecological environment and source of drinking water for local municipalities. Additionally, this tract allows for the expansion of recreational trails across the previously purchase Coldwater Mountain Tract (FW #11).
