Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) Program Development and Implementation

The State Lands Division serves as the lead departmental entity for development and implementation of the Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) program in the State of Alabama. The NRDA program is facilitated by various state and federal natural resource trustees who have the obligation to protect the state’s natural resources. The primary purpose of the NRDA program is to identify and assess damage to natural resources, arising from environmental contamination. The program provides the opportunity to ensure that damages to natural resources are mitigated.
