Sgt. Stephen Schrader Named SEAFWA Officer of the Year

The Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies recently named Sergeant Stephen Schrader the recipient of their Alabama Officer of the Year Award for 2004. Conservation Enforcement Supervisor Fred Bain praised Schrader for his abilities and accomplishments during his 24 years as an Alabama Conservation Enforcement Officer.

A dedicated law enforcement professional, Sgt. Schrader works easily with other officers, assisting other agencies when called on, assuming leadership roles when needed, or working alongside them as part of a team. He excels in teaching conservation education through presentations to school and civic groups, by conducting hunter education classes, and participating in kids’ fishing events, Conservation EXPO, Step Outside events, and Becoming an Outdoors Woman workshops. He also writes articles pertaining to wildlife and conservation for publication in Outdoor Alabama magazine and Wildlife and the Outdoors newspaper columns. Sgt. Schrader assists in training new Conservation Enforcement Officers and recently helped cross-train Marine Police Officers in waterfowl laws.

Previously honored as the Alabama Waterfowl Association Officer of the Year and the District II Enforcement Officer of the Year, Sgt. Schrader holds memberships in Ducks Unlimited, The National  Wild Turkey Federation, National Rifle Association, Alabama Conservation Officer Association, Fraternal Order of Police, Alabama State Police Officers Association, Bass Anglers Sportsman Society, and The Alabama Wildlife Federation.
