Beginning Angling and Bass Fishing Seminars To Be Held Thursday, February 16, in Prattville, Ala.

February 14, 2012

The Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division (WFF) has partnered with the Prattville Department of Leisure Services to conduct two freshwater fishing seminars on Thursday, February 16, at the Doster Center, 424 S. Northington Street, Prattville, Alabama.
The 7 p.m. session will focus on simple techniques to help beginning anglers get started fishing. The second session begins at approximately 8:15 p.m. and features bass fishing strategies for local waters. WFF staff and Larry Haag from Auburn University Montgomery’s competitive fishing club, “AUM Anglers,” will be presenting.
During the seminars, novice anglers will have an opportunity to try different types of fishing techniques including spin casting, spinning, and bait casting. Anglers will learn to tie three different knots often used in fishing. Instructors will demonstrate simple types of rigs and how to hook various baits. Fly casting will also be demonstrated, and some basic information about lures will be discussed.
The bass fishing presenters will talk about their favorite crankbaits and soft plastics baits, including when and where to use them. Discussions about seasonal strategies will also be included in the hour-long presentation and question and answer session.
