Spring Plant Fest Set For April 1 at Wehle Land Conservation Center
Celebrate spring at the Spring Plant Fest scheduled for April 1, 2006, at the WehleLandConservationCenter near Midway in BullockCounty. The Spring Plant Fest combines educational displays, informative talks, vendors, and established gardens to create a one-stop source of knowledge about plant life. Free admission to all events. Plant Fest will emphasize the importance and impact of plants in everyday life. The educational side of the event includes gardening talks on creating a wildflower garden and creating a low-maintenance water feature in your landscape. There will also be a pine needle basket-weaving demonstration.
There will be scheduled wildflower walks around the center; labeled displays of local plants, posters,handouts on plant diversity and invasive species, various exotic vegetables, gourds, herbs and farming methods demonstrations.
Vendors will be on site with ornamental plants, organic bread and produce, fountain kits, pine needle baskets, and organic soap.
Apart from the extensive information that will be available on plants, the WehleLandConservationCenter features log cabins with primitive furnishings exhibits and open woods trails. Lunch and snack items will be available at reasonable prices from local food vendors.
The WehleLandConservationCenter is located approximately five miles southeast of Midway, Alabama in BullockCounty on County Road 47. Take U.S. Hwy. 82 from either Montgomery or Eufaula to Midway and follow the "NatureCenter" signs.
