New Requirements for the Purchase of Alabama Seafood Licenses

Individuals wishing to purchase an Alabama Seafood License, including all saltwater commercial licenses, as well as saltwater recreational gill net and shrimping licenses, now need to provide additional information before a purchase can be made. Applicants must provide a valid Social Security number for the licensee; for businesses, the Federal Tax Identification Number will suffice. The collection of this information is required as part of both state and federal mandates. In addition, the date of birth or date of incorporation of the licensee will be required. If an individual cannot provide this information, they will not be able to purchase a license.

Alabama commercial seafood licenses may be purchased at the Marine Resources’ offices located in Dauphin Island and Gulf Shores. Selected licenses may also be purchased at the Bayou La Batre City Hall. Recreational gill net and recreational shrimping licenses may be purchased at the Mobile County Courthouse and the Baldwin County Courthouses in addition to the aforementioned locations.
