Notice of Correction:  The article previously published to the Outdoor Alabama website on March 16, 2017, “Gulf State Park Lodge on Track for 2018 Opening,” contains several inaccuracies.  First, any statement or implication that the Gulf State Park Lodge and Associated Public Access Amenities Project has secured complete funding with BP funds is incorrect.  This project is currently undergoing evaluation by the Alabama Trustee Implementation Group for funding and no decision has been made to date on whether to partially fund this project through natural resource damage assessment settlement funds from BP.  Second, the conference center has been designed to accommodate up to 1,500 people, not 1,000.  Finally, annual park visitation is well over 600,000 per year.  In 2015 it was approximately 2.2 million and in 2016 it was approximately 2.3 million.
