Freshwater Fishing License Plate
First 1,000 Applicants Receive a New License Plate at No Cost
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is pre-selling its new “Freshwater Fishing” distinctive license plate. This tag depicts a largemouth bass, the state’s official freshwater fish, and has up to six spaces for optional personalization.
The tag is not yet available for purchase; however if you are among the first 1,000 to complete a “Commitment to Purchase” application, your $50 tag fee will either be reimbursed or paid by ADCNR depending on your method of commitment. See documents above for detailed information on how to obtain a tag at no additional cost.
Proceeds from the sale of the tag will support habitat enhancement, aquatic wildlife species protection and restoration, aquatic education, bass genetic research, sport fish disease research, and sport fish stockings.
Several years ago, the Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries promoted the “Take a Kid Fishing” license plate, which is still available for purchase at County Probate Offices. However, once the new “Freshwater Fishing” tag reaches its commitment goal of 1,000, production will begin and the “Take a Kid Fishing” license plate will be retired.
