Spotted Bass and Alabama Bass Caught in Alabama

Spotted Bass over 4 pounds or 19 inches may qualify for a Master Angler Certificate.
Spotted Bass over 6 pounds or 21 inches may qualify for a Trophy Angler Certificate.

Spotted bass in the Mobile basin are a species known as the Alabama bass. Typically the Alabama bass achieve a larger size than the northern spotted bass.

 4-12 Spotted Bass
Marty Brown of Dalton, Georgia, caught this huge spotted bass on the lower end of Pickwick Lake June 10, 2011, during the FLW Everstart Tournament. The spotted bass weighed 4-12 on FLW's weigh-in scales. The fish was caught in 15 ft of water on a 10" Zoom Ol' Monster worm and 15 lb test Seaguar Flourocarbon line. Matthew Williamson shows that, though Lake Martin may be known for large numbers of spotted bass, Lake Martin can produce big spots like this one over six pounds.  It was caught in late March of  2006 on a 4-inch green pumpkin dead ringer Zoom worm with the tail dipped in chartreuse garlic lure coloring.
