DeKalb County Public Fishing Lake will reopen on Thursday, June 16, 2016, under the operation of new lake manager Steven Simmons. The lake has been closed for renovation since August 2014. The 120-acre lake is located on Sand Mountain one mile north of Sylvania, Ala.

The lake offers public restrooms, two covered fishing piers, pavilions and a boat ramp. Jon boats, electric motors and batteries are available for rent. Camping facilities are available with electricity and water. Bait, fishing tackle and snacks may be purchased at the lake. In addition to fishing license requirements, a daily $3 fishing permit is needed for each angler age 12 and older.
