Below are examples of one- and three-day Adult Mentored Hunt schedules

One-Day Event Schedule

9:00 am: Check-in

9:15 am: Welcome and introductions

9:30 am: Classroom: An introduction to hunting and the history of conservation

10:00 am: Firearm and bow safety briefing

10:30 am: Range time

12:00 pm: Lunch

12:45 pm: Classroom: Ecology of animal hunted, shot placement and blood trailing

2:00 pm: Leave for afternoon hunt

Dark: Meet back at central location, process any game if applicable and debrief

 

Three Day Event Schedule

Friday

12:00 pm: Check-in, room assignments

12:30 pm: Welcome, Introductions, fill out paperwork, begin intro to Hunter Safety

2:30 pm: Firearm safety and live fire on the range

5:30 pm: Dinner, wild game cooking demonstration

7:00 pm: Hunting overview, stand assignments, morning plan

Saturday

5:00 am: Light breakfast, head out for the hunt

10:30 am: Discuss morning hunt, process any game, Q&A session with mentees and mentors

12:00 pm: Lunch

1:00 pm: Guest speaker (DCNR Biologist, or NGO Rep, or Industry Rep)

2:00 pm: Head back into field, hunt until dark

6:00 pm: Field dressing/butchering workshop

7:30 pm: Dinner, wild game cooking demonstration

Sunday

5:00 am: Light breakfast, head out for the hunt

10:30 am: Meet back at lodge, process any game. Debrief from the weekend, fill out exit surveys. Pack/clean up lodge and head home
